Apple Plans Satellite Connectivity and Blood Pressure Monitoring for 2025 Smartwatch
Apple is reportedly planning to integrate satellite communication technology into its smartwatches by 2025 and is increasing efforts to develop a blood pressure monitoring feature for the device, Bloomberg News reported on Tuesday, citing Reuters.
According to the report, the satellite feature may be introduced in the next year's version of the Apple Watch Ultra. This feature will enable users to send messages without requiring cellular or internet connectivity.
In 2022, Apple launched satellite communication services for its iPhones. Last November, the company invested $1.5 billion in Globalstar, a satellite service provider, to expand this technology.
The report also stated that the blood pressure monitoring feature is expected to be available in 2025.
Apple continues to focus on adding more health-centric features to its products. In September, the company unveiled a new smartwatch capable of detecting long-term health issues like sleep apnea and responding to emergencies.
However, Apple has not commented on these developments, according to Reuters.
